A Sizzling Start to Summer…

Things are heating up in Soho as we head into June, with a stellar lineup at Alfie’s to kick off the summer. Here are some highlights you won’t want to miss:

Friday Feelings with The Koko Collective

This Friday, swing into the weekend with The Koko Collective, delivering fantastic classics jazz tunes on Alfie’s stage. Known for their energetic performances and toe-tapping rhythms, The Koko Collective will transport you back to the golden age of swing. Their set will feature a mix of classic blues, swing and lively originals, perfect for both dancing and listening.

Piano Bar Vibes: Fraser Urquhart

Over in the Piano Bar, enjoy the classic piano trio sound from the talented pianist Fraser Urquhart and his trio. Urquhart, known for his smooth technique and emotive playing, will be accompanied by a double bassist and drummer, creating an intimate and soulful evening. Expect renditions of jazz standards, heartfelt ballads, and some of Urquhart’s own compositions that showcase his unique style and musicality.

Super Saturday on the 1st June: A Trio of Stars

Jay Verma at 6pm (tickets from £10): A semi-finalist on BBC Young Jazz Musician of the Year, Jay Verma’s versatile style blends Jazz, Folk, Grime, Classical, and Electronic music. His performances are known for their innovation and energy. Jay’s set at Alfie’s will feature a mix of his original compositions and unique arrangements of well-known pieces, showcasing his technical prowess and creative flair.

A Salute from Art Pepper: The headline band of the Soho Live All Stars will deliver a tribute to jazz legend Art Pepper. This set will highlight some of Pepper’s most famous works, infused with the All Stars’ own dynamic interpretations. Expect a powerful and emotional performance that pays homage to one of jazz’s greats while bringing something fresh and exciting to the stage.

The Night Train ft. Harry Ashworth: Harry Ashworth returns to Alfie’s with his fantastic rendition of “Sunny Side of the Street”. Ashworth, known for his charismatic stage presence and soulful voice, will lead The Night Train through a set of jazz classics and contemporary favourites. His performance is sure to be a crowd-pleaser, filled with energy and passion.

First Week of June: Must-See Performances

Natalie Lindi with Nathan Britton: On Friday 7th June, catch the remarkable Natalie Lindi, a recipient of the UK’s MOBO Awards ‘Unsung Class of 2022’, performing with maestro Nathan Britton and his band. Lindi, known for her soulful voice and captivating stage presence, will be performing a mix of classic jazz songs with modern twists. Nathan Britton, an accomplished pianist and musical director, will accompany her with his sophisticated and expressive playing. This show promises to be a special blend of timeless jazz standards and contemporary influences, creating an unforgettable musical experience.

A Night in Havana with Sambroso Quartet in The Piano Bar Soho on Wednesday 5th June, immerse yourself in the rhythms of Havana, inspired by the Buena Vista Social Club. The Sambroso Quartet brings the vibrant sounds of Cuba to Alfie’s, with an evening of Latin jazz that will have you dancing in your seat. Their repertoire includes classics from the Buena Vista Social Club and original compositions that capture the spirit of Cuban music.
